At globatech, we are proud to be able to count on long-standing employees who embody the human values and expertise of our group. Dave Oborne is one of these pillars, with a remarkable career since joining av-tech in 1997.
A career built on closeness and development
What motivates Dave on a daily basis is his closeness to people and teamwork. These two elements are, in his opinion, at the heart of the av-tech culture.
His career path reflects a natural progression within the company.
He started out accompanying technicians on the road, before receiving training in mechanics and then electricity. After becoming an electrician, he was promoted to project manager and more recently to deputy regional director for the western Montreal area, working alongside William.
His career path: technical assistant → mechanical technician → electrician → project manager → deputy director.
Challenges that shape
The transition from the field to the office was a real challenge for Dave. Learning to manage projects, structure teams, and juggle administrative responsibilities was a key step in his professional development.
Large-scale projects
Among the projects that have left a lasting impression on him are:
A unique corporate culture
What sets av-tech apart in his eyes is its human and family-like atmosphere.
“I've known Mr. Shooner for over 22 years. He's always been attentive, even asking how the kids and family are doing. It's the little things that mean a lot.”
Dave emphasizes that at globatech, you're not a number, you're a person who matters.
What does the future hold?
Despite the current market challenges, Dave is confident:
“The construction industry is essential. There will be changes, but our human essence and strength will remain.”
👉 Dave is one of globatech's three longest-serving employees. He is an inspiring example of commitment and loyalty for the entire team.
